Upcoming Event: BMRC Annual Meeting - October 17, 2024

The Black Metropolis Research Consortium (BMRC) invites you to join us for our 2024 Annual Meeting.

Come learn about the work we have been doing to support and advance Black archives in Chicago.

We will be joined by our special guest, Dr. Laura Helton, author of the new book, Scattered and Fugitive Things: How Black Collectors Created Archives and Remade History. In this talk, Helton will also discuss the research conducted for the book, including in the Vivian G. Harsh Research Collection and other BMRC member institutions' archives. Steven D. Booth, the Archive Manager of the Johnson Publishing Company Archive for the Getty Research Institute, will engage Laura in a discussion after her presentation.
